A Month To Go....

Well hello there, I bet you thought you had seen the last of me.... Nope, still here.

37 days to go until the San Antonio Rock n Roll Marathon and things are starting to get serious. I know what you're thinking.... Running 26.2 miles is a daunting task. You are right, but with the right mindset and proper preparation it is an attainable and fulfilling goal that I think everyone should set for themselves at least once in their life. Training is now at a fevered pace with only 4 more weekend long runs between now and race day. The beers are down to a minimum and the pressure is at a maximum (except for when my birthday rolls in the first weekend of November and I'll be in New Orleans with my crew, so anything goes).

See you on the other side....

Hell Run? Hell yeah!

Hell Run was an awesome event!

Having run last years Warrior Dash I had at least some idea of what kind of day to expect. Trails, obstacles, loose rocks, hills, and more obstacles. This however was an animal of a different color.

The hills were steeper, the rocks were looser(if that's possible), the obstacles were bigger and better... from the thigh deep mud pits we had to go through, to the sand trap with barbed wire we had to go under, to the four sets of chest high walls that we had to go over. Not to mention the junked cars and old tires to navigate.

There was also the 15 foot wooden ladder that had to be climbed.

The stock pond swim was a definite twist i didn't see coming.

And that's not mention the fire jump.

It was a very challenging and exciting day but I have to admit, I was more than a little happy to see the finish line.

All I knew is that no matter what, I was gonna get one of those bad-ass Super-Man symbol shaped medals to put with my collection...

And I did!

Happy, Dirty, tired and satisfied with a job well done......

As everyone knows, the event isn't finished until the beer is gone.

At the end of the day I felt like this....

But the high can't last too long, next week is Shiner G.A.S.P. Stay tuned.....

Gentlemen(and ladies) START YOUR ENGINES!....

So, the 2011 Cocked-n-Locked Endurance Sports season is off and running(yes, pun intended). Tomorrow, Saturday April 30, we have the Austin Hell Run which is billed as "The most kick-ass mud run on Earth. Prepare for mud pit after mud pit, insane obstacle after insane obstacle..." SWEET!

The weekend after that, May 7, is the Shiner G.A.S.P. (Great Austin to Shiner Pedal) which is a brisk 100 mile bicycle ride from the Met Center in Austin Tx to the Spoetzl Brewery in, of course, Shiner Tx. This is a great event in support of United Way and I would do it for that reason alone but it doesn't hurt that after the ride they give you some awesome BBQ and free Shiner beer!

Anyway, I will post some pictures of Hell Run after the event tomorrow if my camera doesn't get ruined.... See you on the other side.

Wow!

They are making this way too easy.  Access from my computer, iPad AND my phone?  Now I'm gonna be all out of excuses....
The picture btw is me at work.... NOT working.... unless blogging about not working can actually be construed as work but I hope not because then I would be working and none of that, not working, business would make any sense at all.

Today....

Today, I take charge... Today, is the first day of the rest of my life.... Today, I decide upon and forge my own destiny....

Ok, ok its not THAT spectacular. Today, I return to the land of Blog-a-patamia to let everyone know about the unveiling of the new Cocked-n-Locked Endurance Sports Facebook page. That is where I will be posting all pictures of events, my DailyMile running and or cycling totals, up-coming races, rides, etc.

Thanks for your continued support and fear-not, the Blog-Monster in me has awoken hungry AND on the wrong side of the bed WITH an iPad in his paws, so you will not have to wait so long between posts.

Thanks again.

Oates.

Out.
